Tourist Information
Currency
In Italy the currency is Euro (€).
There are cashpoints (bancomats in Italy) all over the city, as well as at the airport.
You can withdraw euros directly from a cash machine, or else exchange your cash at a cambio valute (exchange office) at the airport, in town or at a local bank. The Euro comes in seven paper denominations, numbering 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500. There are eight Euro coins, with a value of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents, as well as one and two Euro coin. 100 cents comprise one Euro.
Electricity
Italy runs on a 230V power system, making use of two-pronged plugs and matching sockets. If you’re arriving from outside Europe, you’ll probably need an adaptor and if you’re country utilizes a different voltage system (110V), you should bring a power transformer as well. Some appliances and laptop computers run on different power supplies, but ALWAYS check before plugging in. Adaptors and converters can usually be bought at electronic stores or travel shops.
Internet connection
You’ll find WIFI in many hotels and restaurants, as well as coffee shops and libraries.
Phone
The Italy dialing code is +39 (which replaces the 0). Please remember to check your own country’s code before you travel.

Time zone in Genoa, Italy is UTC+2 (GMT+2) / Central European Summer Time (CEST).
Tipping
Tipping is not expected but nowadays part of the culture in restaurants, taxi and hotels. There is no hard-and-fast rule for the percentage. Leave whatever amount you feel is appropriate.

Drinking water from the tap in Italy is considered safe.

In June the average maximum daytime temperature in Genoa lies at 25°C (75°F). The average minimum temperature goes down to around 18°C (64°F) (often the minimum temperature is noted at night).
Rainfall during June is moderate with an average of 60mm (2.4 inches). There are generally around 8 rainy days.
